Future Plan

The 8th Five Year Plan (2021-2025) sets out the main targets to be achieved in the fisheries sector with the aim of achieving the targets mentioned in the Government Election Manifesto, Development of Prosperous Countries by 2041 and SDG:
1.Increased production of farmed fish by 12.50 per cent as compared to 2019-20 (25.83 lakh MT) and total fish production by 11 per cent;
 2.Ensure daily fish consumption of 64 grams per capita;
3.Export of frozen shrimp, fish and value added fish products to 1.00 lakh MT;
4.Create more employment for unemployed youth and women and ensure participation of 20-25 percent women in fisheries;

5.30 percent increase in income of fish farmers / fishermen;
6.To develop good farming management and supply system at every step of the supply of fish and shrimp in the international market; And
7. Implementation of plans adopted to ensure proper management of marine fisheries.
